Dad, Tad, Shawn and I(Dora) took a memorable trip out of town several weeks ago(Saturday, March 23,2013) to view a dairy farm that was going up on auction. We went looking for items we may want to purchase for our dairy. We found several items we hoped we could purchase. So, the day of the auction, Tuesday, April 16th, Tad and Shawn took the day off work(their real jobs for now) and joined Dad, Zach, and I for a full day. We left at 8AM, sale started at noon, and after purchasing some of the things we were after(some went to high for our blood) we spent the late afternoon, and early evening removing some of the items we purchased. Like 6 very heavy Steinway gates, 6 water's for the cattle, washer and dryer for the parlor, 2 power-washers, and 2 bunk feeders. We also purchased 10 fans and 25 headlocks, however, we didn't have tools or trailer space to take these items home with us. We finally called it a day at 7PM. The next day was another all day auction at the same farm selling off remaining items and equipment. Dad and I went back for that one. We left at 6 AM for this one, and thankfully, Diana kept my children for me(Zach was worn out from the day before). Dad and I made some great purchases Wednesday as well, including 17 calf hutches, gloves, towels, tire scraper, calf blankets(I got 18 calf blankets for a total of only $40!!) and other miscellaneous items. The most valuable to Dad was a saw horse that we purchased for $2! We carted this around during the equipment sale and he sat on it to relieve his knee that he had replaced. Dad and I spent the afternoon flattening and loading calf panels for the hutches, and loading the truck up with whatever we could fit inside the cab, and on the trailer, including tire scrapper. We weren't able to take the hutches, so on Saturday, April 20th we left at 6AM for another trip to the farm. This time Dad took the stock trailer with Hannah, Noah, and myself and Tad took the flat bed trailer with Shawn, Zach and Josh. The men removed the fans, then Shawn and Tad worked on the headlocks while Dad and Hannah and I started loading the calf hutches. We finally had our loot loaded and pulled out a little after 2. Fond memories made, and good family time working together.
