Changes and progress

So this is a one day we will look back and say,"Remember when,,,...," type of post. The cows we purchased aren't all they were suppose to be. Or another way of putting it, we definitely did not get our money's worth. We have culled, or sold, 30 cows of the 82 we originally bought from John. Some from the  48 old big brown Swiss that were going stale, and a few from the group of 34 suppose to be all fresh Holstein heifers that calved in August that in reality only approximately 4 had and some were even older cows. So we're trying to climb up out of this hole we found ourselves in. We hired a new nutritionist that really knows dairy cows and he himself has a very large(700 head) dairy. We bought some Jersey milking cows from him. So we're making a few changes, getting rid of the giant beasts and bringing in smaller cows that actually have milk! That's our goal anyway. One comment to remember I was told we don't have a prayer of a chance for the dairy surviving, so very thankful that in reality, prayers are what has kept us so far. Seeking to please God and do His will far outweighs what man may think or say or do.
