Weekend happenings. . . and visitors !



Hannah folding towels used for milking. Today it was her chore to do. The kids are going to take turns with this chore !
We'll see how they do !



Sunday evening milking ~  Malcolm, Brenda & Jim came to check out the dairy and Malcolm joined the parlor crew for a while !

Dad using tire scraper to clean up manure in the holding area between the loafing barn and parlor.  The view in the foreground is of the sick pen.







 

Dad buried a line and was able to complete the side driveway this week. He and Tad dumped gravel on Saturday.




Water is hauled and dumped into the water tank that is visible in the utility room in the earlier pictures. With all of the water being used in the parlor and consumption by the cows, the well went dry a couple times. So, until the spring can be developed or a new well dug, they are hauling water and putting it into the tank. Then it gets pumped out in the loafing barn for the cows to drink.






After Malcolm, Brenda and Jim left, another Jim came by. He is running for trustee and brought 4 hats with him.  I didn't get a picture of Dad and Tad in their hats before they left to mix feed. Shawn put a hat on himself and Dora.



Shawn thought he'd see if one of the cows would wear a hat while she was waiting for her turn in the parlor !





   

And she wore it for almost a minute !  It fell off when she lifted her head.

Putting the chopped corn into a new silage bag. It takes both tractors to do this job. Dad is in the cab on the bigger tractor while Tad is outside.

My project ~ I put together a collage of pictures from the initial excavation work until there was milk in the jar !  This is hanging in the office now.
