Loafing barn finished on Thursday, July 25

Today our building crew finished the loafing barn and packed up their tools. Sure will seem quiet without them and the steady drum of hammers. I'll definitely miss taking their picture but I'm sure they won't miss me and my purple phone camera! It is really amazing watching how fast they can pull together a building. This barn isn't really small. It's 160' by 112'. We still need concrete in part of this barn. Our parlor is moving just as quickly. It's really neat to think that this is the only one in the states like it. That has been challenging for John, Sam, Greg, Jose and Matt. They have never put together one of these types of parlors so they are learning as they go. It's a swing arm that will milk 8 while we get 8 more ready and when the first 8 are finished, the arm will swing to the other side and we can release and prep 8 more. So when we really learn how to milk, the milkers should not stop until we're finished milking. May be future posts on how well that works out!
Packing up tools and lunch buckets.
Irving throwing on a ladder. Oh no, we don't have any ratchet straps to hold ladders in place. I'll ride up here.
Watch you head Irving! Low tree branches. I think he was trying to scare me,,, he squealed pretty loud halfway down hill.
Many thanks to Merle, Levi, Sam, Melvin, Irving, Allan, John, Scott, Doug, John(English driver), and Jamey. You did a wonderful job.
In the center you'll see the silver pipe with a black cap on end. That's the swing parlor part.
Sam installing pipe line.
This is the back side of the parlor. First open door on left is utility area, next area with concrete in front is our office and open area on right will be our sick cow pen area. So that's our days on the farm pre milking. :)
